Dan Dreifort Blogs

Though equally uninteresting, I now have a few Dan Dreifort blogs competing for Google ranking. Why? It's not vanity. (I'm not totally denying my vanity, just in this particular instance.) Though not scientific, the idea is to use my name a few times on each blog to see which of them ranks the best for searches like "dan dreifort" and though on the surface, it would seem that knowing which blog best ranks for dan dreifort doesn't tell us anything else, well... that's just the surface.

From what I can tell initially, wordpress does slightly better than blogger. Which is weird because Google owns blogger. Who knows? Maybe they really live by that whole "do no evil" mantra from time to time.

It's good to know which blogs rank well for arbitrary terms (like Daniel Dreifort) because we can then take the results from our inane Dan Dreifort ranking/blogging study and leverage the results for other searches and keywords. E.g. I try to rank well for the word indelible, largely because it's a dan dreifort band, but also because it's just more practice.

Amongst other things, I primarily do Search Engine Optimization for a living. Practice can never make perfect in the world of SEO, but it still helps. I've blogged about some SEO specifics on one of my other dan dreifort blogs. Check it out.

What's the biggest annoyance about doing SEO for others? It might be dealing with the IRS. But then again, almost any law-abiding self-employed person would likely say the same thing. I swear by my accountant, Wayne Strickland. He's a penny pincher. Just the sort of guy you want for a tax accountant! Quarterly estimated taxes are still annoying. You'd never miss weekly/monthly paycheck deductions... until they're gone!
